About Hugo da Silva Correa Pinto

I am an artificial intelligence researcher/developer/consultant specialized in computational linguistics and interactive entertainment. My work in recent years could be described as discovering and implementing solutions to complex AI problems under strict budget and time constraints, within small teams.

My research and work has spanned natural language processing and text mining (financial, military and biomedical domains), cognitive architectures  (Webmind(dead) and Novamente), computer games, multi-agent systems  and machine learning.

I developed commercial AI applications and research prototypes in diverse international teams, associated to companies such as Webmind, Vetta Tech and Novamente LLC. I also worked for a brief time on the integration of legacy systems in the public sector and in an EU multi-site academic project (Companions).

I received the degree of MSc. in Computer Science from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, in 2005, with a work on extended behaviour networks and FPS games. The BSc. in Computer Science from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, with a monograph on cognitive architectures, was awarded to me on 2002.

I am always interested in partnerships for research and development of solutions of complex problems in inter- and trans-disciplinary domains.
